This is the witness of God! | 1 John 5 | Modern

In his First Epistle, the Apostle John writes to believers to strengthen them in the truth and to protect them from false teachings that threatened the Church. Throughout this letter, he emphasizes foundational realities: faith in Jesus Christ, love for one another, and the assurance of salvation. In 1 John 5:9-13, John presents the greatest testimony that can ever be received: God's own testimony concerning His Son. While people often accept human testimony, God has given a perfect and undeniable testimony about Jesus Christ. This testimony reveals that eternal life is found in His Son alone. This passage challenges every reader to consider not only what they believe about Jesus, but also the foundation upon which their assurance of salvation rests. John writes so that those who believe in the name of the Son of God may know that they already possess eternal life. As we study these verses, we will discover to whom this testimony is addressed, what it literally means, and how this truth can produce a confident assurance in God's promises today.
