Far too often people tumble bottles improperly, overcleaning the outside in an effort to get the inside clean. The inside of a bottle that has been under the ground for over a century can have very heavy mineral staining. In addition, the outside of a bottle in a tumbler gets more action by the copper than the inside. So, often after completing the cleaning operation the inside still shows traces of staining.
