China's New Ultra-Bionic Humanoid Robots Look TOO Real. Are UBTECH's U1 AI Robots Just Hype?
Shenzhen-based UBTECH Robotics just launched its U1 line of ultra-realistic androids under its newly established UWorld consumer sub-brand. The 14-year-old robotics firm, known for its industrial Walker humanoids, says it's already gotten more than 13,000 reservations for the robots that are designed for companionship rather than physical automation. Available in masculine and feminine versions, they feature soft silicone skin, micro facial servos for lifelike expressions, and run on a so-called emotional AI model with encrypted memory for privacy. The launch sent UBTECH's stock surging 18 percent on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Pricing ranges from $16,000 for an android bust to more than $125,000 for a full-sized walking bionic fake human with 88 degrees of freedom (DoF). UBTECH expects to start shipping them by mid-September 2026. #robotics #humanoidrobots #ai
