Blackstone horizontal Oil Engine 6.5 HP 1908 starting and running
This is my Blackstone oil engine number 64086 built January 1908. It was supplied by the main Australian agents, Clutterbuck Bros. of Adelaide South Australia to a property north of Adelaide. For convenience heated for five minutes or so with propane, then set to half compression, starts easily on about the second compression. Once running change over to full compression and replace the vapouriser cap and slide. Speed is 250 rpm and flywheels are 3' 6" diameter. Perry Engineering of Adelaide later (from 1916) made direct copies of the Blackstone engine, marketed under the name of Clutterbuck.
