Located in Majia, Pingtung, Llama Canyon sits along the Sheluxi River.** Downstream, you’ll find Lion King Waterfall; upstream, there's the majestic Taigulafasi Waterfall. Further up are the Dusumakak Canyon and Tuming Chila Waterfall. The river originates from Mount Beidawu, and during April to May, the waters turn a stunning, crystal-clear blue. From Taigulafasi Waterfall, you can hike downriver and gaze out over the long, narrow canyon from above. If you descend via the mountain trail, you'll arrive at the lower section of the canyon. On our trip, we chose the mountain route. The trail was faint and very steep. The final section, consisting of shale rock, was especially dangerous — you may need to bring your own rope for safety. *During summer, Sheluxi River can swell dramatically, especially with frequent afternoon thunderstorms.
