Dozens of Hezbollah terrorists are trapped under siege in southern Lebanon after the IDF gained operational control over the Ali Taher Ridge compound near Nabatieh — one of Hezbollah’s most fortified and critical nerve centers in the south. The underground compound was built with Iranian assistance and is used to manage fighting, store weapons, and operate fire systems against Israel. Throughout Friday night, Hezbollah launched more than 50 rockets toward IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon. The IDF struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in response, while Israeli forces continue holding the area of Ali Taher Ridge and Tibnit. Security officials say Hezbollah’s increased fire may be an attempt to relieve pressure on the terrorists trapped inside the compound. As Hezbollah comes under heavy pressure, Iran is trying to turn the fighting in Lebanon into a regional crisis. The Revolutionary Guards accused Israel of violating the understandings, announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and threatened vessels that come near. CENTCOM, however, clarified that shipping continues through the strait. The new agreement between the United States and Iran has created a dangerous paradox. While Washington pushes for talks to continue, Iran is using Hezbollah and Hormuz as pressure cards. The Iranian delegation is heading to Switzerland for talks with Vice President J.D. Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, while the Revolutionary Guards try to protect Hezbollah from collapse. President Trump says passage through the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and without fees during the 60-day ceasefire and afterward. But he also warned that if the deal is not completed, the United States may demand compensation from regional countries for serving as their “guardian angel.” The report also follows the strange diplomatic path of the Iran agreement — from Pakistan’s announcement, to Trump’s dinner at Versailles, to the postponed Swiss meeting. At the same time, tensions are rising between Trump and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over the use of runways against Iran. Iran is trying to save Hezbollah through pressure in Hormuz.
