Qab Iyo IIL

Qab iyo iil, “Pride and Grave”, is a short film set in a sleepy Somali village about the civil war. It focuses on the story of an elderly man, Guuleed, who refuses to be part of the raging clan warfare. After a militia takes over his village, Guuled refuses to identify the clan he belongs to and insists he is simply a Somali. As the civil war gathers steam, Guuleed’s son is recruited by the militia to defend the village against other clans. This leaves Guuleed with the task of protecting his young grandson and educating him about the negative aspect of the clan system.
