In this video, I'm doing a "self-reaction" to content I posted on my social media about one of the most debated topics in Christian theology: Infant Baptism (Pedobaptism)! My goal here is not to force Baptist brothers and sisters to change their minds, but rather to strengthen the arguments of those who follow Reformed and Presbyterian Theology, helping you to deeply understand our faith. Many argue that infant baptism is a "theology of silence," since there are no explicit accounts in the Bible. But is that really the case? I show that, in fact, what doesn't exist in the Bible is the account of a believer's child growing up and being baptized only at 12 or 15 years of age! The biblical texts that say "whoever believes and is baptized" were directed to first-generation believers—people who were converting from paganism or Judaism to Christianity (like Lydia, the jailer, and Philip's eunuch). In Covenant Theology, the children of believers are not treated as ungodly individuals who need to "enter" the church; they are already part of the covenant community from birth! In the Old Testament, children were incorporated into the covenant through circumcision. Since the New Covenant is superior and more comprehensive (including the baptism of women, who were previously uncircumcised), would it make any sense to exclude our children from this covenant of grace? The continuity of God's covenant is far more biblical and logical than discontinuity!
