(Profile) Motonobu Tanishige Born in 1970. He played in the Koshien tournament at Enogawa High School (now Iwami Chisuikan High School). After graduating, he joined the Yokohama Taiyo Whales (now the Yokohama DeNA BayStars) as the first draft pick. In 1998, he won the Best Nine Award, Golden Glove Award, and Best Battery Award, contributing greatly to the team's Japan championship. He transferred to the Chunichi Dragons in 2002. He was selected to represent Japan in the WBC in 2006 and achieved 2,000 hits in 2013. He became a player-manager in the 2014 season and announced his retirement in 2016. He played in 3,021 games and achieved 27 consecutive seasons with a hit and home run total (both NPB records).
