Luke Krone Events - Milky Way Blaauwklippen Wedding

Stories are born over time and meaning is found in moments captured over years, so I always try to look for personal “traditions” and thread them through an event to make it magically you. Today I am excited to share this little tale with you.. Margot and Frank have a unique story to tell and their heritage is rich with Dutch and South African culture. Linking Frank’s heritage to the Netherlands and having been born in the city of Delft and Margot being raised in the Cape Winelands, where Delft porcelain has been used in Cape households for hundreds of years. Often at historic wine estates you find relics of these old plates and I can remember as a child picking up little pieces of Delft on our family farm. Storytelling and ceramics go hand in hand so we were inspired to use the Delft heritage in a modern way, where this was a focal feature that framed the most significant part of Margot and Frank’s wedding - the commitments and exchanging of vows. Months before the wedding, each plate was hand-made and painted by a local South African ceramic artist, Janet Lightbody, with unique details chosen by Margot and Frank. The guests then received a plate as a wedding favour at the following day’s brunch, wrapped beautifully so that in that moment and in years to come, they revisit the feeling they had at Margot and Franks’s ceremony.
