外国人選手は日本チームで何につまずくのか？研究者と本気で分析してみた【eSport競技/Euriece/コミュニケーション問題/APEX】

This video delves into the communication challenges that arise when foreign players join Japanese teams, using the Apex Legends competitive scene as a basis. Understanding vocabulary and expressions, listening comprehension, intonation, and misunderstandings during post-game debriefings are all discussed. Simply being able to "speak Japanese" isn't enough to overcome the unique difficulties of the competitive scene. This video introduces some of the support and improvement efforts we actually implement (we have many more, so if this is well-received, we'll make a sequel). The research we referenced shows that in real-time cooperative games like Apex Legends, conversations between native Japanese speakers and non-native speakers have the following characteristics: "Adjustment behavior"—rephrasing to ensure the other person understands "Miscommunication"—due to omissions and misunderstandings of vocabulary "Lack of words" due to anxiety or impatience about not understanding Furthermore, it has been pointed out that "experience playing in Japanese with native speakers of different languages" has a greater impact than playing skill. This video is for anyone who wants to consider communication in esports not just as a matter of "language ability," but also in terms of team performance and cultural differences.
