This typically involves drilling wells in areas that are thought to contain oil deposits, such as the offshore Bombay High field and onshore fields in the states of Gujarat and Assam. After the crude oil has been extracted, it is transported to a refinery, where it is processed into various petroleum products, such as gasoline, diesel, and heating oil. There are several major refineries in India, including the Jamnagar Refinery, which is owned by Reliance Industries and is the world's largest refinery. Once the crude oil has been refined, it is transported to distribution centers, where it is stored until it is needed by consumers. From the distribution centers, the refined products are shipped to retail outlets, such as gas stations, where they are sold to the general public.
