Mother of The Hill Grotto 2011 Tribute

Our Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God appeared here daily to a 11 year old local boy James Quail from 25th September to the 25th October 1954. James was tending cattle/sheep in the field when Our Lady first appeared to him. Our Lady was dressed in a White Robe with a Blue Cloak, had a Golden Crown and her hands were joined with Rosary Beads. Our Lady's message was : Pray the Rosary for Peace in the World Our Lady appeared to James daily, talked to him, Mother and Child chats, firstly in the distance then came closer, stood on the rock, (where her statue now stands) walked round the area, asked him to pale & wire the area to protect the Rock and said there would be a Grotto here in years to come. She instructed him to clean the moss off the rock and the whins from the area. To bring candles and arrange the flowers brought by the people in jam jars, 12 jars to represent the Twelve Apostles. The Rock would represent Our Lord and 3 candles to represent Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Our Lady said to give the people soil and that there would be cures at the grotto. Petitions were to be written, sealed in envelopes, put in a box at the rock and burned later unopened. This practice was to continue. On one occasion Our Lady was accompanied by St Peter and St John. Our Lady wanted to be known as Mother of The Hill and she wished it to be added to the Litany. On the 25th October 1954 , Thousands of people were there, Our Lady as promised gave a sign of her presence. Approximately 120 people saw Our Lady at a distance over the mountain at 10.20pm, dressed in a White Robe and a Blue Cloak, a Golden Crown with shinning stars and she had the Rosary in her right hand, many also saw a Black Cross over the rock.
