Delhi Metro Phase 4 project, consisting of 6 lines with a total length of 103.93 km within Delhi, was finalized in July 2015. Out of this, 3 priority corridors covering 61.679 km with 45 stations were approved by the Central Government on March 7, 2019. In October 2020, the length of the Silver Line was increased, taking the total length of the priority corridors to 65.1 km. Today, a new section of Delhi Metro Phase 4 is being opened, including the Magenta Line extension from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park and the Pink Line extension from Majlis Park to Maujpur–Babarpur, further expanding Delhi Metro’s connectivity in North and North-East Delhi. Tendering for Phase 4’s civil construction began in June 2019, with piling work on the Line-8 extension starting on December 30, 2019 at Haiderpur-Badli Mor Station. In December 2020, DMRC also began the tendering process for the project’s sub-systems financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). DMRC plans to procure 288 new metro coaches for these three corridors.
