Forest fires in Spain, Pedro Sánchez, Ávila, Madrid, climate change, and a national emergency define the landscape of this crisis. The Prime Minister reported that the situation regarding the two large fires in the center of the country improved overnight and that some hotspots are now contained, although he warned that the coming hours will remain very challenging for emergency teams. He also announced that the areas impacted by the fires will be declared severely affected zones on Tuesday. Since the beginning of the year, some 150,000 hectares have burned, and more than 100,000 people remain displaced or confined.
