These Pre-Writing Rituals Beat Writer's Block Every Time | Writing Vlog

Writers need rituals. Today I'm starting a brand-new book, so I'm sharing the pre-writing rituals I do at the start of every writing day—and the ones I save for the beginning of a major new project. Pre-writing rituals prepare your mind, body, imagination, and physical space to write. As Billy Wilder put it, "The muse has to know where to find you." They're also great for beating writer's block: by the time you open your notebook, you've already started. Along the way I share the memorable rituals of other creators—including John Steinbeck, Twyla Tharp, and and Haruki Murakami. What are your creative rituals? What helps you reach that deeper state of mind? Let me know in the comments. Links: "A Liturgy Before Writing," by Malcolm Guite: https://rabbitroompoetry.substack.com...
