18 Balinese Script (Simbar) Wyañjana (Wrĕṣāstra): a/ha na ca ra ka da ta sa wa la ma ga ba nga pa ja ya nya The Balinese script or Aksara Bali descended ultimately from the Brahmi script of ancient India by way of the Pallava and Old Kawi scripts. There are eighteen basic syllables that are used for writing pure Balinese language. The Balinese script, along with the Javanese script or Aksara Jawa, is considered the most elaborate and ornate among Brahmic scripts of Southeast Asia.
