Today we take a look at Matrix Team Police Station, Chapel Ln N, Wynyard, Stockton-on-Tees, Billingham TS22 5TH. We speak to a few people from within the building but one of them behaves below a professional standard. Whilst conducting a stop and account, the lady who presented herself as a police officer failed to identify upon request. This is in violation of PACE CODE A as detailed below - What Code A says about identification (plain-clothes officers) Under PACE Code A, when an officer carries out: a stop and search, or a stop and account they must provide certain information to the member of the public. If the officer is not in uniform (plain clothes): They must: Identify themselves as a police officer Show their warrant card as proof of identity This is not optional and not dependent on the person cooperating. The warrant card is the official means of identification and includes: Officer’s surname Collar (shoulder) number Force name and crest So asking for these details is entirely proper.
