Reizthema Tempolimit: So steht es um die wissenschaftlichen Fakten I Die Spur
It's a highly contentious issue: the general speed limit on German autobahns. Some demand it for greater road safety and climate protection, while others see their freedom threatened. #SpeedLimit #ZDF #DieSpur Other European countries have fixed speed limits on their autobahns. In Germany, however, they can only be imposed at hazardous locations or for noise abatement reasons. On 70 percent of the autobahns, drivers are generally free to drive as fast as they like. This freedom has been vehemently defended for decades, especially by the CDU/CSU and the FDP. Even during the coalition negotiations of the current federal government, the speed limit was one of the biggest points of contention. But why does this particular issue have such high political implications, and why is there no objective discussion? "Die Spur" investigates this question: Powerful lobbyists or clear facts – what counts? Authors Carolin Hentschel and Eva Kunkel uncover evidence suggesting that scientific facts about the effects of a speed limit in Germany may not even be desired by some. According to researcher Christian Traxler from Berlin's Hertie School, the data situation regarding speed limits in Germany is surprisingly poor; others even speak of a research gap. Is the debate being conducted so emotionally because the facts are lacking? 🎥 Did you enjoy this video? Give us a like!
