London Canal Life. Boating on the River Lea.

Back in 2020, Life was emerging from the first lockdowns in the UK. Jacob, a performer and angler, and I met on his second day back in London after spending the last three months with his parents up north. Jacob lives and breathes fishing, obsessed with getting the largest carps. During lockdown, Jacob bought a boat and did it up, with the idea of living on the river where he could live on top of the fish. We talked about what it was like being back in London, what he looks for when he fishes, why he loves to fish and what he hops life on the river will be like. Jacob talks about the fish you can find in the River Lea, a stretch of river that takes you from Canary Wharf all the way out to the countryside. The river and the waterways of London have a huge community of boaters and narrow boats that move along the river every 2 weeks. I filmed this as part of my London Coming Out of Lockdown film, which was my projects in 2020. See more of Jacob at www.instagram.com/jacob_londoncarper
