Kopaonik skiing 07-14.02.2026., Serbia part 1 Pistes 6a, 4, 4a, 4e + night skiing 7a

TURN ON SUBTITLES (CC) Kopaonik is the biggest ski resort in Serbia. There are about 58 km of ski slopes (blue, red and black and ski roads). The week I was there was very foggy with only occasional short periods of clear weather, unfortunately. I captured almost all the moments when the weather was nice, but I certainly didn't have the opportunity to film all the trails, just a few. There are many more nice and interesting trails, but that will be for another time, or anyway, many people have already filmed all the trails. The trails are really enjoyable, they're not too strenuous, the incline isn't too steep. All pistes from Pancicev peak are great for fast disciplines for recreatives (for professional downhill and super-g skiing they are not long enough), if the conditions are good - well groomed slopes (in the morning) and firm snow. Kopaonik also have pluses and minuses, like any tourist destination. The biggest minus, in my opinion, is the low altitude. Highest peak is at 2017 m, ski lifts are going very close to that, but the lowest point is at about 1070 m in Brzece. If the winter is good, cold with a lot of snow, than everything is ok, but with warm winters there can be problems. There is now a new lake, a reservoir for making artificial snow and almost all the slopes are covered with a snowmaking system so the situation has improved a lot, the ski resort is well maintained. Temperatures at the Kopaonik center were from -3 to 5 C during the day, and from -4 to -1 during the night, at peaks less than that. These temperatures are not to low, so the snow was a little bit slow. Good thing is that the slopes are generally not crowded, except some bottlenecks. Ski lifts are also almost empty in the morning, which is great for true lovers of skiing and well-groomed trails, and start crowding at about 10:30. The reason why there are no crowds on the slopes is probably because one ski lift serves even 10 or so pistes (Pancicev vrh), so people spread out. Another good thing is, if you are located in the center, the ski lifts will be very close to you, you can get to them in a few minutes, so there is no hassle. There are mountain rescue service members on skies on the trail, and if someone gets injured they come with ski-doo to transport the injured person. There is also night skiing from 6 - 9:30 PM, 3 trails are lit, although during the period I was there, only one was open - Karaman Greben 7a, and Jezero for two days, unfortunately, Pančićev vrh 4b was not working, probably due to fog. The cafes and restaurants are nicely decorated and elegant, prices are affordable. Also in supermarkets (chains), prices are the same like in their other stores in any other town in Serbia. The general impression is that Kopaonik is a family mountain, it is very child-oriented, there is a lot to do for fun, also slopes are perfect for beginners to learn. But of course, advanced skiers can enjoy too. There are many interesting black slopes (which I wasn't skiing this time, due to fog, and soft snow on those slopes, and my skis are fast, one fast and I bought another pair, even faster, so conditions were very unfavorable for me). And as I already mention, all pistes from Pancicev vrh are like a treat for speed lovers that don't want to "sweat" too much, but just enjoy.
