Ottana, 16-02-2026: gara poesia improvvisata [Muntone_Donaera_Farina_D.Porcu] - PRIMA PARTE -

Welcome to Ottana: A Journey Through Tradition, History, and Culture The Ottana Carnival The Ottana Carnival, in Sardinia, is an ancient Barbagia ritual rooted in agro-pastoral culture and pre-Christian Dionysian cults. It represents the ancestral struggle between man and beast, symbolizing the cycle of life, fertility, and the subjugation of wild nature to human rationality. The handcrafted masks are unique and passed down from generation to generation through oral tradition. Traditions and Local Identity The Ottana Carnival is a lively celebration that keeps centuries-old traditions alive, strengthening the community's sense of identity and belonging. The Improvised Poetry Competition During Carnival, the ancient tradition of the improvised poetry competition is revived. The poetry competition, featuring poets Cristòlu Muntone, Peppino Donaera, Nicola Farina, and Diego Porcu, took place on Monday, February 16th. After the usual introduction, the following topics were assigned: • Cristòlu Muntone: Su Pretendente (The Suitor) • Peppino Donaera: S’Isposa (The Bride) • Nicola Farina: Su Babbu (The Father) • Diego Porcu: Su Paralimpu (The Intermediary or Witness in Courtship and Marriage) The competition will be published in two parts: • Part One: The Introduction • Part Two: Themes, Duine, and Batorine Enjoy! CORRECTION: Due to a simple error in the introduction, the tenor "S'affuente di Ottana" was cited. It is instead "TENORE DI OTTANA" (TENORE DI OTTANA).
