Modder East Gold One miners return to surface
The Modder East Gold mine in Springs says about 200 of the over 500 miners who were underground for three days, have returned to the surface. There have been conflicting reports about why the group remained underground. The Sunday night shift, which was due to surface on Monday morning, did not emerge. Mine management and NUM say workers are being held hostage but mining union AMCU insists it's a sit-in. The mine says they are sending security underground to find out where the rest of the miners are. Those who emerged this morning are now receiving medical attention. Newzroom Afrika's Zola Sholwana speaks to some of the miners. Tune into Newzroom Afrika DStv channel 405 for more.
