Me and My Girl at New York City Center
Me and My Girl: May 9-13, 2018 at New York City Center Tickets: https://www.nycitycenter.org/pdps/me-... Two-time Tony Award-winner Christian Borle stars as Cockney everyman Bill Snibson, who wreaks havoc on high society after being unexpectedly elevated to the lofty position of Earl of Hareford. The other well-to-dos in town look down on Snibson’s Cockney girlfriend, Sally Smith, played by Laura Michelle Kelly. Me and My Girl also features Bill Buell, Chuck Cooper, Suzzanne Douglas, Mark Evans, Harriet Harris, John Horton, Simon Jones, Lisa O’Hare, and Don Stephenson. L. Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber’s book—revised by Stephen Fry—and lyrics with Noel Gay’s infectious score, including “Leaning on a Lamp Post” and a title song that The New York Times wished “would never end,” comes to life as Rob Berman leads the Encores! Orchestra. Part music hall frolic, part class-warfare comedy, Me and My Girl was the toast of the 1937 London season before becoming a Broadway darling in the 1980s. Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle directs and choreographs, bringing “The Lambeth Walk”—the famous first act finale that launched a worldwide dance craze—back to New York for the first time in nearly 30 years to close this celebratory season of Encores! at 25. Me and My Girl is the final production of Encores! 25th season.
