Book Study of Obadiah (2nd Part)

The Book of Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament, consisting of only 21 verses. It is the fourth book among the Minor Prophets. Although brief, its message is powerful and timeless. The book was written by the prophet Obadiah, whose name means "Servant (or Worshiper) of the LORD." The primary theme of Obadiah is God's judgment against the nation of Edom because of its pride, violence, and betrayal of its brother nation, Israel (the descendants of Jacob). When Jerusalem was attacked and its people suffered, the Edomites not only failed to help but rejoiced over Judah's downfall and even participated in the destruction. Obadiah teaches that God opposes pride and holds every nation accountable for its actions. The famous principle found in the book is: "As you have done, it shall be done to you."
