Why is human life so short? The universe has existed for approximately 13.8 billion years and could continue for unimaginably long periods. Yet, the time allotted to humans is merely a few decades. Compared to the time of the universe, a human life seems like the blink of an eye. Then why do we live such short lives? Inspired by Richard Feynman's way of thinking, this video explores human lifespan, the time of the universe, biology, evolution, entropy, and the meaning of existence. Why does the universe move toward trillions of years, yet the human body ages and disappears within a timeframe of around 80 years? Why wasn't life designed to last forever? And why can a short life actually be a condition that creates meaning? Physics does not attempt to offer humans special comfort. However, it does show us just how rare a moment we are living within the vast timescale of the universe. Aging is not simply a failure. It is a biological reality created by energy, order, entropy, and evolution. We exist for such a short time compared to the entirety of the universe. But during that very brief moment, the universe is able to look at itself, question itself, and find meaning. Perhaps what matters is not how long we live.
