'a Plaster Mill' a model railway in EM gauge inspired by J. C. Staton's mill at Tutbury.
Featured in the July 2025 issue of Railway Modeller magazine, a linear model railway layout in 4mm scale, built to EM gauge Society standards is based on the exchange sidings of J. C. Staton's plaster mill at Tutbury, Staffordshire. Wagons laden with gypsum rock were shunted across the river Dove on a crude viaduct, via the sidings, before passing through an archway into the mill yard. Wagon loads of cement or plaster passed from the mill and back across the river to Tutbury South Yard and the main line. As exhibited at the Stafford Railway Circle show 2024 and at the EM Gauge Society Member's Day and AGM at Ashover, Derbyshire, 2025, the layout is booked to appear at Aldridge Museum Model Show, 26th July 2026, followed by the Trent Valley MRC's exhibition, 19th September 2026 at Lichfield.
