Exploring - Abandoned Manunka Chunk Train Tunnels

Part of the Warren Railroad in New Jersey from 1856, these tunnels were abandoned in 1970 due to constant flooding, maintenance repairs, and lack of traffic. These tunnels are almost a 1000 feet long with a slight bend. It is pitch black inside and are slowly deteriorating with many collapses. The western portals are easy to get to and accessible from roads/paths, but the eastern side was a bit of a hike as it is hidden through farm fields, woods, and chasms. You could go through the tunnels themselves if and only if you have proper equipment such as strong lights, waist-high waterproof waders, hiking sticks, hard hats, and at least another person. It is extremely risky inside as rock falls constantly occur due to the weakened structure and outside elements. The silt inside is very soft at a certain point and you quickly sink. It was pretty cool to see nevertheless.
