#99 - Series Resonance Circuit in Action – Resonant Frequency Demonstration
In this series resonant circuit demonstration, I illustrate how the effective impedance of a capacitor and inductor in series is close to zero ohms at the resonant frequency. This happens as the capacitive reactance and inductive reactance are equal, but are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. Additionally, I demonstrate how series resonance affects the circuit's current. As the resonant frequency as approached, the current rapidly increases. This is demonstrated by both the rapid illumination of a light bulb, as well as a frequency-domain spectral illustration of the phenomenon. I will also demonstrate the concept of voltage magnification at resonant frequency by comparing the circuit supply voltage to that of the inductor voltage - representing a 250% increase in the supply voltage. Applications for series resonance include radio tuners, band-pass filters, noise filtering, and voltage magnification. ⚡ Key Takeaways: ✅ Series Resonance causes impedance to dramatically decrease ✅ Current increases as resonance is approached ✅ A light bulb in series with the capacitor and inductor brightens at resonant frequency 🔔 Subscribe for More Practical Electrical Theory & Diagnostic Tips! 👉 The Tech Circuit on YouTube / @thetechcircuit 📢 Join the Community & Stay Connected: https://TechCircuit.org 🔹 Facebook Group: Join the Tech Circuit Community: / 746823709133603 💰 Support the Channel & Website: Donate Here https://TechCircuit.org/donate 🔎 Hashtags: #SeriesResonance #Seriesresonantcircuit #ResonantFrequency #CapacitiveReactance #InductiveReactance #SeriesRLC
