Planetary Orbits (PE Analysis and Radial Oscillations)

In physics, while studying central forces, we see that stable circular orbit is the result of minimum energy of the system in the potential energy diagram. If we perturb the planet from its minimum energy position, or equilibrium position, then it stars oscillating about its radius, executing simple harmonic oscillations. This can be shown by potential energy analysis of the problem. We can further calculate the angular frequency and time period of such oscillations.
