Excerpt from the class "Cognitive Faculties," from the course "Degrees of Literacy." Rafael Falcón holds a master's degree in Classics from USP. He has worked for over a decade as an independent professor and lecturer, teaching courses in literature, pedagogy, and philosophy. He founded the first online Latin course in Brazil, the Trivium Academy, and the Animus Project, as well as the creator of the theory of "degrees of literacy." His master's thesis, "The Education of the Orator: Annotated Translation of Book II of Quintilian's Institutio Oratoria," has been published. Falcón is a significant work in classical studies, due, for example, to the relevance and breadth of the rhetorical discussions it promotes. He has translated and/or commented on authors such as Quintilian, Hugh of Saint Victor, Ovid, Propertius, and John of Salisbury.
