The mystery surrounding the Flannan Isles Lighthouse has stayed unsolved for more than 120 years, and the story still gives people chills. In 1900, three lighthouse keepers—Thomas Marshall, James Ducat, and Donald MacArthur—vanished from a remote station off the west coast of Scotland under unbelievably strange circumstances. A fourth keeper normally rotated in from shore, and when he arrived on December 26, he found the lighthouse completely empty with no sign of the men anywhere. The only clue he spotted was a single overturned chair by the kitchen table, as if someone left in a hurry. With no bodies recovered and no clear explanation, the theories exploded: maybe the men drowned, maybe foreign spies abducted them, maybe a ghost ship appeared, or maybe something far more terrifying came out of the ocean.
