The King of Fighters '94 Re-bout - PlayStation 2 - Intro & Fatal Fury team arcade longplay [4K60fps]

Full gameplay playthrough, longplay, walkthrough, guide and trueplay as the Fatal Fury team, made up of Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi, officially they are the Italy team of all places. This Japanese only release was a remake of the original NEOGEO arcade game with extras. Not really covered the King of Fighters series in some time despite being long time fans. So what better way to start then a look at KOF94 re-bout, a graphics tart up of the original game in the series that unfortunately only makes a handful of gameplay changes. As the A.I. and character move set comes from KOF94, which is the weakest game in the series. While an impressive title in 1994, SNK games got over looked somewhat, in part as the controls, difficulty and gameplay wasn't quite up their with Capcom at this point. Their early games were a bit hit and miss with input detection on some special moves. In the case of Joe Higashi, his slash kick and tiger kick, use similar inputs and the game often gets confused as to which move you are inputting, it's even worse if you are using a joypad. Added to this most characters are missing moves seen in the later games in the series and all characters only have one super in 94. Quite why character move sets weren't updated to those seen in KOF2003 (the most recent game at the time) is a little odd. The short answer is that bugs and gameplay issues ironed out in KOF95, 96, 97, 98 & 99 are back with a vengeance in Re-bout 94. As is the brutal A.I. that responses to your input making special moves and jump attacks useless, unless used in a combo, as the A.I. will perfectly counter every move you do. This video was done on a lower difficulty so we could use these moves. If you're playing on the hardest your only option is to abuse A.I. flaws and loops, such as dodge it's attack and wait for it to come to you. Making CPU matches repetitive and rather boring to watch and play. The A.I. in early SNK games really has to be cheesed if you want a perfect run, lost to the sports team and a few times to Rugal, but have edited them out. We did cheese the second form of Rugal as the fight is utterly unforgiving if you don't. The scaling back of the A.I. difficulty in the later titles was one of the aspects that greatly improved the series so it's odd to see it back here. Apart from the new 3D backdrops and the redrawn sprites (which don't look as good as the NEOGEO ones) most of the game is the same as the original NEOGEO KOF94. Fortunately the original NEOGEO version is also included as part of this 10th anniversary release along with movies for the stories of the KOF Orochi & Nests Sagas. Just about every character from the series makes a cameo in the various stage background, along with other SNK characters. The big new extra is Saisyu Kusanagi from KOF95 is made playable along with Rugal's second form, strangely Mature Rugal's secretary from KOF96 wasn't added despite her appearing in some cut scenes. While these extra characters are nice. Re-bout ends up being inferior to the original KOF95 in just about every way it was originally. The King of Fighter '98 also got updated on PlayStation 2 and that is the far far better game to own and play. Re-bout 94 is best suited to die hard fans of the series, the difficulty and gameplay issues will easily, put of an newcomer to the franchise. Some fans may like the return to the original gameplay, but most will just realise how much better later instalments are.
