Zimbabwe Returns Farms Seized From European Owners To Push for Debt Relief | Firstpost Africa | N18G
Zimbabwe has announced that it will be returning 67 foreign-owned farms and pledging $146 million in compensation to settle claims from European investors. The move specifically targets properties protected under bilateral treaties with Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands, addressing grievances from the controversial and often violent land reform era of 2000. Under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the government is also working to restore over 1,200 additional farms to Black and white Zimbabwean owners. This restitution drive is a strategic attempt to mend relations with Western powers and unlock the global financial system. Currently burdened by over $13 billion in foreign debt, Zimbabwe remains shut out from IMF and World Bank lending. --- Zimbabwe | Land Restitution | Farm Compensation | Foreign Investment | Economic Crisis | Firstpost | News Live | World News | Latest News | Global News | International News | News | Trending News #zimbabwe #landreform #zimbabwenews #internationalrelations #globalfinance #firstpost #newslive #worldnews #latestnews #globalnews #news #internationalnews #trendingnews Firstpost is an Indian news and media website.
