Why Dune 3 Looks SO Different (DUNE: PART 3 TRAILER REACTION)

Why does the DUNE 3 trailer look so different? In my first video, I’m reacting to the official Dune: Part Three (Dune Messiah) trailer from a cinematographer's perspective. In this raw reaction I'm breaking down the visual shift as Academy Award-winner Linus Sandgren (La La Land) takes over the camera department from Greig Fraser. Personally, I am incredibly excited for this film! While the visual language of the footage is extremely different from Denis Villeneuve’s first two movies, these dramatic, high-contrast swings and richer color palettes beautifully fit the dark, thriller-style narrative of Dune Messiah. 0:07 - Where's Greig Fraser? 0:27 - Strong film grain & harder light 1:18 - Just using the sun 1:57 - Format change? 3:23 - Hard shadow's and hard backlight 5:05 - Soft on the face / hard on the body (power dynamic) 6:55 - The encompassing approach 9:10 - Sunsets are hard 10:18 - How the medium close was shot 11:12 - Rembrandt lighting and it's contribution to the story 13:00 - The same but different 15:03 - The final shot 16:07 - Final thoughts If you love film analysis, camera tech, and cinematography, subscribe for more breakdowns! #Dune3 #Cinematography #DuneMessiah #LinusSandgren #Filmmaking #denisvilleneuve
