Construction of the new Padang-Solok road via Lubuk Minturun actually began long ago during the administration of Governor Gamawan Fauzi. It was then halted due to issues with obtaining a protected forest permit from the Ministry of Forestry. Now, due to frequent landslides in Sitinjau Laut during the rainy season, the West Sumatra provincial government and the community want an alternative route from Padang to Solok. Now, the desire to continue construction of this new road via Lubuk Minturun has resurfaced. However, it remains hampered by protected forest policies and the protection of wildlife, such as tigers and other wildlife, as the road is largely located within the protected forest area of ​​Kerinci Seblat National Park. The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has proposed the construction of a flyover or tunnel, but the cost is prohibitive, and the central government has rejected the Sitinjau Laut flyover.
