Why We Disappeared… And Why We’re Back 🌿 | Yaad Gardeners After some time away, we’re finally getting back into the groove of backyard gardening again. 🌱💚 In this video, we begin transplanting callaloo seedlings that appeared naturally after seeds from our previous crop were scattered during the hurricanes and heavy rains. The recent rainfall triggered germination, leaving us with an abundance of callaloo seedlings ready for a new home. We also wanted to be transparent with everyone — we know we haven’t been posting as consistently as we should have. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on projects that will help take Yaad Gardeners in a completely new direction and transform it into something much bigger than just a backyard gardening channel. The intense heat we’ve been experiencing in Jamaica caused major damage to much of our garden. Instead of experimenting with dozens of crops like before, we’re shifting our focus toward growing enough to supply our household first, and if we have surplus, sharing it with family, friends, and neighbors. Our goal now is simple: 🌱 Grow smarter. 🌱 Grow sustainably. 🌱 Enjoy the process again. We’re starting with callaloo and will continue adding crops and updates as we move forward. We also shared updates on our Carolina Reaper and Pink Tiger cross Carolina Reaper peppers. After pruning the plants and feeding them with chicken manure, they’ve started bouncing back beautifully after struggling with heat stress, yellow leaves, and drying foliage. We’re now seeing fresh leaves, new blossoms, and healthy new growth. 🌶️🔥 We also showed our compost bin and the chicken manure we collected months ago, which has now broken down into rich organic matter that’s ready to feed the garden naturally. This isn’t a restart — it’s a reset. Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us through the hurricanes, floods, heat, and rebuilding process.
