The tropics will try to wake up, but this isn't about specifics-it's about watching the pattern. Right now, there isn't a well-defined tropical system. However, the atmosphere is becoming more favorable in one part of the Atlantic basin, and that's where my attention is over the next 10 days. At the same time, the Southeast remains locked in a stretch of intense heat, with temperatures climbing into the 90s and some areas flirting with 100°. That same pattern will also bring repeated rounds of thunderstorms, with some communities seeing well over twice their normal weekly rainfall.
