THE HITS OF LEFTERIS PAPADOPOULOS – Re-imagined instrumentals Lefteris Papadopoulos, one of Greece’s most celebrated lyricists, was born in Athens on November 14, 1935. He began writing lyrics in 1963 and went on to collaborate with nearly every major composer, singer, and musician of his generation. Over the course of his career, he created an extraordinary body of work, penning more than 1,200 songs. Among his many collaborators were Stelios Kazantzidis—most notably with the timeless hit “Den Tha Xanagapiso” set to music by Manos Loizos—as well as Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarhakos, Stavros Kougioumtzis, Christos Nikolopoulos, Mimis Plessas, Grigoris Bithikotsis, and many others. Although he worked with many greats, his most profound and enduring partnership was with composer Manos Loizos, together shaping some of the most beloved songs in Greek music history. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1.
