Welcome to The Unknown Adventurist's YouTube channel, an incredible journey of off-grid living and cabin building in the woods. Grab a seat, a bag of buttered popcorn and watch this journey as I build a remote cabin in the woods from start to finish! WINTER CABIN PLAYLIST • My First Off-Grid Winter Cabin in The Woods CABIN BUILD - OFF THE GRID VIDEO RECAP In this video, you'll witness the determination and resilience required for an off-grid cabin build. Get an inside look at the hard work and dedication that goes into making my winter cabin a reality. FINALLY, A DOOR! Now that the walls are up and the roof is on, it's time to seal the deal and finish one of the most important elements to a cabin. A warm and dry door. But not just any old door. Watch me as I use basic building materials - on a budget - and construct one of the warmest and possibly heaviest doors you will ever gaze upon! WORKING OUTSIDE IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURE Working in below freezing temperature in the northern parts of Canada (or any extremely cold geographical location) requires some thoughtful considerations and preparations. Working with gloves is a must but makes it hard to "feel your work". Can you count how many times I remove my gloves? Using any kind of heating system to keep toasty is a prerequisite for these conditions. Consider using a wood stove, propane heater, rocket stove or pipe stove. Always wear layers, no matter what! Keep matches and a cellophane bag of birch paper. It's highly flammable even when wet. FUTURE DOOR PLANS There's so much that goes into building a door that I couldn't easily fit it all into one episode, so don't forget to Tune-in to Part 2 when it goes live in a few weeks from now. You'll get an inside look at a nifty little trick I came up with. I've never seen anyone before, do what I did, when building a door that gives it a terrific "R value" rating but without requiring hundreds of pounds of pure wooden mass. *👍🏻 LIKE AND 🔔 SUBSCRIBE to the channel to stay up to date with the latest episodes and gain valuable insights into the world of off-grid living and cabin building in the woods.
