Then they returned and came to their home in Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 In due course Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she named him Samuel, because I had asked for him from the Lord. 21 Then the man Elkanah and all his household went up to offer the yearly sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, “After I wean the boy, I will bring him so that he may appear before the LORD, and he will remain there forever.” 23 But her husband Elkanah said to her, “Do what seems best to you and wait until I have weaned him; only may the LORD establish his word.” So she nursed her son and waited until he was weaned. 24 After he was weaned, she took him up with her, taking with her three bulls, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine.
