I'll explain that a bit more in detail in this video. The first step you can take when playing with a playback is, of course, to simply connect headphones to your laptop where you're playing the playback and put them on. This way, you can play along with the playback. The problem, of course, is that you can't hear yourself on the saxophone. You can work around this by using open or semi-open headphones, such as studio headphones. These don't completely cover your ears but rather sit on top, allowing you to still hear some external sounds. Another option is to connect a Bluetooth speaker to your computer or phone. There are now very good Bluetooth speakers from various brands that can also be quite loud. Another option is to use a small mixer. Let me show you the mixer I use. It has just the right number of channels for my needs. On one channel, I have my phone connected, where the playback is running. On another channel, my saxophone microphone is connected, and on another channel, I have an overhead microphone for my voice. A special feature is a switch that allows me to turn the microphone for the voice on and off. This is because my saxophone is much louder than my voice. So when I play, I turn off the microphone for the voice to avoid overloading. Some people have also wondered why my sound sometimes sounds different when I play with playback compared to when I play alone. The reason for this is simply that I play with playback through the saxophone microphone, which creates a different sound than the microphone for the voice. If you want to use a similar setup, you can get your own mixer and create your own mix of playback and saxophone with a little reverb on the saxophone. This makes practicing much more fun, and you can even make recordings. I hope you enjoyed the video! Feel free to leave a comment, share the video, or subscribe to the channel to not miss any videos.
