A Divergent Path: The Richard DiMarchi Story

National Inventors Hall of Fame® Inductee Richard DiMarchi’s scientific contributions have been vital to the success of some of the first recombinant DNA (rDNA) derived medicines and have redefined what’s possible in helping people to lead longer, healthier lives. When DiMarchi created Humalog®, a modified version of native insulin that is used daily by more than a million patients with diabetes, he established a precedent for optimizing proteins to create superior drugs. He also laid the foundation for the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) drug class, including drugs like Mounjaro. GLP-1 drugs are transforming the management of obesity and related chronic diseases.
