The Lieserpfad is a hiking trail in the Volcanic Eifel region. It runs for 74 km, predominantly southwards, from Boxberg via Daun, Manderscheid, and Wittlich to the town of Lieser on the Moselle River. The hiking trail runs largely parallel to the Lieser River. Initially, the Lieser Trail consisted of two sections, now called the middle section. The combined 42 km from Daun to Manderscheid, and from Manderscheid to Wittlich, were known as the Upper and Lower Lieser Trails. Later, the section to the mouth of the Lieser was added, and finally, in 2012, the Lieser Spring Trail was added. In 2018, the Lieser Trail was ranked second in the hiking magazine "Germany's Most Beautiful Hiking Trails." The middle section, in particular, is a truly beautiful hiking trail. I thoroughly enjoyed trying out the various mineral springs (sparkling water sources) along the way and thus experiencing the heart of the Eifel region firsthand. In 2015, the overall concept was revised, the Lieser Trail received uniform signage and a new logo: a blue "L" on a green background. The newly signposted route was opened on May 14, 2015.
