Day two of the G7 summit is underway, with Ukraine at the center of discussions. U.S. President Donald Trump has once again pledged to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. There is much to suggest that returning to the issue is now possible for the United States following a preliminary agreement reached with Iran. “Zelenskyy has three key goals at the G7,” says Marcin Bużański, Director of the Center for Diplomacy and Negotiation at Collegium Civitas, speaking on World Talks. The first is securing financial support, the second is strengthening air defenses, and the third is convincing Trump that putting pressure on Putin could be a major political win for him. At the same time, the Middle East will also dominate discussions, given the highly uncertain stance of Israel and ongoing questions surrounding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
