Heidegger e o Taoísmo: a vida além da hiperprodutividade | Ep 143

We live in an era that has transformed even rest into a performance tool. When we rest "to be more productive" or meditate to "increase focus," the logic of utility has already colonized our existence. In this episode, I start with the fictional clinical case of Rômulo — a professional exhausted by hyperproductivity — to investigate how the philosophy of Martin Heidegger and the tradition of Taoism can help us think about contemporary burnout, anxiety, guilt in the face of idleness, and the difficulty of simply inhabiting the world. I explore Yin-Yang not as a moral opposition, but as a dynamic of interdependent polarities, in which action finds its opposite in rest, recollection, and receptivity. I also discuss Wu-Wei, the Taoist non-action, and Heideggerian serenity — Gelassenheit — as modes of relating to the world that oppose the compulsion to act, control, and produce. The aim is not to claim that Heidegger and Taoism say the same thing, but to highlight points of contact between these traditions: the critique of the will to dominate, the openness to the natural time of things, meditative thought, and the dignity of the "useless" in the face of a life reduced to function. A phenomenological-existential reflection on the technical age, hyperproductivity, and the possibility of existing beyond utility. Key topics of the episode: • Hyperproductivity and the colonization of leisure by the logic of utility • Romulus's clinical case and life reduced to function • Yin-Yang and health as a transit between poles • Wu-Wei: non-action, creative action, and compulsive action • Heidegger and serenity: using technique without being dominated by it • Meditative thought and calculating thought • Chuang Tzu's "useless tree" and the need for what serves no purpose • Phenomenological-existential psychology, clinical practice, and contemporary burnout For discussion in the comments: what in your life can you still do without asking "what is it for?"
