Grief Strikes Nyeri As Missing Woman Found Dead

Kianjoye Mbari Ya Nguraa village in Mukurwe-ini Constituency, Nyeri County, is engulfed in grief following the discovery of the body of Jane Wanjiru, a 26-year-old woman who had been missing for two weeks. Her remains were found in a well, prompting a search after residents noticed a foul odor emanating from the water source. Wanjiru went missing after attending a New Year’s Eve church service on December 31, 2024. Her disappearance raised alarms in the community, leading to a desperate search for answers. Local authorities are investigating the case, with a main suspect reportedly having been released from Mukurwe-ini Police Station prior to the discovery of Wanjiru’s body. Police believe she may have been raped before being murdered, with her remains allegedly dismembered and placed in a sack. Area MP John Kaguchia condemned the violence, urging young people to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than resorting to such heinous acts.
