Senator Bam Aquino, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, warned on Tuesday (August 12) that the country's classroom backlog could take five presidential terms to resolve if left unaddressed. During the panel's first hearing, EDCOM 2 Executive Director Dr. Karol Mark Yee, citing a PIDS report, revealed that the Department of Education takes an average of three years to construct one classroom. The committee's vice-chairperson, Sen. Win Gatchalian, provided reasons for the delays.
