I don’t agree with this approach. It works for Italian folk songs, but not for more classical styles. Cesare Siepi remains the ultimate representative of Italian baritone in the bel canto tradition. His voice is naturally rich and full, with high notes that feel like they ascend, and the voice has layers that express a variety of rich timbres. Franco Bonisolli’s dramatization of folk songs has mixed opinions on whether it's good or not, but as a tenor, his breath control in the middle voice is exceptional. Renato Bruson has an excellent baritone; this is the first time I’ve heard him, and his middle voice production is very correct, something that no one seems to sing like nowadays.
