High fenders are bad for most riders, split fenders, like adv bikes, are just a compromise and not quite effective in either direction. The debate of high verse low fenders is from adv riders wanting the fashion of being a true off-road rider by buying things rather than working on skills. It comes from motocross, dualsport, supermoto, and Dakar bikes with a complete ignorance of how much it hurts on road preformance at the speeds adv bikes go. Everyone is trying to ruin their adv bikes by pretending they are dirt bikes. But the OEM manufacturers make mx and dualsport bikes, so there is a reason they don't sell adv bikes with high fenders. That's where the split fenders come from, function in the back, fashion in the front. All to cover your bike in mud that clogs the radiator and makes fork seels leak. Also, smashing your radiator and fairing with rocks and preventing airflow to cause over heating. The high fender is like a women's high heels. Just an Instagram thirst trap for the motorcycle community.
